‘DOLA PURNIMA ‘ or known as Spring fest is a popular festival in the costal districts of ODISHA . People celebrate this festival to welcome the Spring with joy and colours. In puranas this festival is refered as Basantoschav. In this festival people worship deities RADHA & KRISHNA as the simbol of love. The festival is celebrated for five days in Orissa. It starts from the tenth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Falguna known as “Fagu Dasami”. The term FAGU ,it means colour. We will find this festival mostly celebrated by the village people. A group of drummers,pipers and sankirtan mandals leds the procession in which the Deities are being carried in a Palinki . The palinkies are decorated with colourfull clothes,flowers,glitters and mangos. In the end of this festival peoples play with colour . Through out INDIA this festival is known as HOLI & this is one of the most popular festival of India.
